The Oakland Math Circle
The Oakland Math Circle is a weekly after-school
mathematics enrichment program for enthusiastic and motivated Oakland students
in middle school (grades 5--8). The Oakland Math Circle welcomes all Oakland
middle school students who like math, and it targets ethnic minorities
(especially African-Americans) traditionally underrepresented in mathematics.
Each
week, students will play with mathematical ideas beyond a typical middle school
curriculum. Topics will be explored with hands-on activities. Come build
rockets, do line dances, and explore music—all using mathematics!
Our goal is to make math fun and exciting, and snacks will also be
provided! Best of all, itŐs free!
